Hi Dave

Recently I have noticed interference in my 8 circle that acts as yours does.  I traced mine too my Green Heron rotor controller that turns my Waller Flag out in the receive antenna field.  It generated a spur every ~6khz.  It's intermittent as the PWM sometimes turns on.  I now just turn it off.  My two cents.

I do not have a preamp in line.  Any ideas what might be going on?
